Goodbye forever

Have you attended someone’s funeral? You might have definitely. As you grow older, you frequently attend funerals. It is an experience in its own way. The very man, who used to walk & talk once, lies as a rock; unmoved and unbothered.

Those closest to them find it difficult to detach themselves. They cry and eventually take solace, leaving it to the divine. This personal grief often blends with the community’s way of honoring the departed.

Cremation in rural parts of India is simply different. Relatives take the body to a burial ground allocated by each family for such purposes. People gather wood and physically make the funeral pyre. They stake the woods and bamboo layer by layer and put the body in it. Son lights up the funeral pyre or sometimes the daughter in the absence of a male heir.   The blazing fire turns the body into ashes in a few hours. The physical existence of the person is eliminated for good.

All our lives, we humans incessantly keep on collecting and saving things, and in the end, we can take nothing with us. Only a few good deeds remain in the minds of people. Rest mingles with smoke rising from the fire pyre. It is applicable to everyone in every aspect of life. Do good and move on.  You cannot carry it to your afterlife.

Leading from the front

All our lives, we have seen people leading with vested interests and being manipulative in  nature in various walks of life. Do they get respect? No, not at all.
As a leader, you have to lead from the front and take responsibility and accountability for your actions. In your endeavour, you will find people who will be just the opposite of you, but they will respect you for your endeavour. This is what we have learned from the Mahabharata and the Iliad, where you witness the greatest protagonists like Arjun and Achilles.
They were leaders. You can love or hate them for their actions, yet you cannot disrespect them. Is it possible in these times? Yes, it is. Life is what you make of it. In every aspect of life, when you are asked to lead, lead like these heroes. They have been remembered for ages. At least, you can try for a few years. Nonetheless, every great hero has to sacrifice something, and one who is afraid of it cannot ascend to the status meant for the great. Leaders sacrifice their dearest things quietly, and this propels them to greatness. Without sacrificing something, you simply cannot achieve greatness meant for you.
People want the position of leader, but not the responsibility and accountability. You have to embrace these things when you assume a position. You are to put your heart into something, then only something comes out perfectly. Even your greatest critic will have a good thing to say about you because they cannot ignore your greatness.
You can live in your small hollow world with your narrow interests. It is just living. Beyond that, nothing. Even if something is small in magnitude, there is scope for doing. Small steps ultimately lead to bigger things.

Change in pattern of recruitments

For quite some time, there has been a change in the pattern of recruiting in companies. Companies are going to campus to recruit, but they are also starting their own hackathon-type processes. This has been highlighted by their recruiters.
Actually, they are looking for people already well-versed in their domain so that they do not have to work on the basics when they get recruited. Competitions like Hackathons push you to learn on your own the things they want from you. Needless to say, the colleges or institutions cannot ever teach the things required in industry because you will be worked on your basics. They work on specifics. Colleges can try to narrow this gap but cannot cover it. It is like a limit tends to zero type analogy. Therefore, students are expected to learn many things on their own through these competitions.
Many people participate in these types of competitions and get a rank. They get scholarships and paid internships also. Later on, they are inducted into the company. It is like they are accepting fanboy-type of people to their companies. So, students can also look into this avenue.
Moreover, many recruiters still complain about students not knowing how to draft a ‘resume’ or ‘CV’. These concepts have become fundamental and should be familiar to every student.

Boring Jobs: Good Pays

Jobs are for getting paid and not necessarily for entertainment. When we were studying, we used to live in ‘la la’ land. We thought people went to work and did interesting things. It might be in some cases, but most often it is not. In jobs, you are given some responsibilities to handle, and you are expected to do those perfectly. There is a division of work. It is required. Otherwise, there will be chaos if everybody is doing everything. When you go to a hospital, you want things to be organized so that you have minimal hassle, especially when you're suffering.  Will it be possible without any division of responsibilities? So, why do you have that unrealistic expectation in your organization?  Every organization or company provides certain services or produces certain products. So, job division is necessary. Whenever there is division of work, there will be redundancy. In a way, redundancy makes you an expert in a certain skill. But it also becomes boring. Frankly speaking, at the end of the day, boring things pay. An organization or a company has to stop at some point and start becoming boring so that they provide or produce exactly the same service or products that clicked with the masses. At the end of the day, everyone’s aim is to earn and take something home.

People may sugar-coat things like passion and interest. Everyone has to stop at some point to be a “big bore”.  Most of the time, privileged people get bored easily because he or she can afford to be bored. People with responsibility will be very happy to take a job that pays well. Getting bored is just a mental condition. When you are deep in debt, these things seem like a scam. So, anything that comes your way feels nice. That is why people coming from a poorer background do not get bored. They see the work that repels discomfort.

Lonely at the top

In college, we live together and develop great camaraderie among our friends. For many years, we have liked to do everything in groups. The group seems to be unbreakable and invincible before gusts of time. Yet, time is ever powerful; it either takes away the things or withers them away. Like everything else, the group would fall apart by the end of college. Everyone will figure something out in the end. Then, they will take different paths.

It is the truth. It happens at the end of each course or degree. Frankly speaking, there is a very low probability of meeting again. Sometimes, life will steer you towards the same path, but you will lose your warmth because many years have passed. Things have changed, and so you have changed too, because priorities have changed.

Everyone has to take a lonely path. Your path is your path because your dream is not their dream. In the journey of a career, you should not long for companionship. It is you alone. You have to keep doing it till you arrive wherever you want to arrive. In this journey, you will come across people, engage with them, and stay with them for the time it is meant for. Then, you keep moving. When you reach the top, you will feel lonelier because others will be left behind. You will be accountable and responsible for your decisions. People’s lives will depend on your judgment and decisions. In those times, you will have to make a decision, and those decisions will be your decisions because no one is capable enough to take those decisions. You may feel lonely, but one has to sacrifice something to get something because “That’s just the way it is.”

How do you want to be remembered?

When a singer died in my state in India, people went mad. They are in a state of denial for many days after losing their heart throb. Yet if someone dies, he goes for good. They never come back. Well, I was astonished to see how a man stalled the state for one long month away from all discussions but only his death mystery. People from all walks of life came together to pay homage to his last rites, which he deserved.

To deserve something, you have to earn something. Many singers have come and gone, yet nobody has felt as strongly about them. His demise felt as if someone from our own family had been lost forever.   This is the feeling throughout the state.

There are many lessons to learn from instance. We come to this world with nothing and go to another dimension with nothing. Throughout the journey n this world, we have to earn something to be remembered. Many are able to do it on a grand scale. Mostly, we are remembered for our good deeds. The works and behaviours that impacted others' lives. Such people are remembered for generations.

Sometimes, we become selfish and think that nobody is going to remember us anyway after we die. Yet people do remember if you do good works. It cannot be large-scale, yet it could be something doable on your part. This is how the world gets better. Otherwise, it is filled with selfish people.

Kingship sees no kinship!!!

Should you believe a person in a position of power? The answer will be hard to digest but it is a big “no”. Even if we start from the same starting line, someone will reach zenith and others will be just mere watchers from the ground. This is the hard truth of life. But, in due course of time, we change a lot ; those who reach the zenith and those who are still in the ground.

But, we tend to think that they are the same as they used to be. In real sense, they are not. Time is very powerful. It changes everyone. The ideology and thinking process change and it is hard to digest. We keep them in our mind as they used to be. It is just nostalgia and figment of imagination of romanticism of our past. We like things to be as they use to be even if we change a lot.

Once e someone reaches position of power, he has some obligations and has to abide by them. For him, you are just another useful hand which can be used and reused. Kings sees everyone as tools to achieve his targets. Even,   a kin is not spared in this strive. Does it make you feel bad? Yes, it is bad, but you have to swallow it. It is hard reality. People in position of power will just service their well being. If your interests align with him, you will be in his good books or you will just push to the corner. In this world, everyone thinks about their self preservation. So, expecting something is just a futile exercise.
