You often come across stories of how a certain business house got eliminated totally due to its irrelevance. It does happen all the time. It happens to us also, but we choose to ignore it.  We have a tendency to ignore painful things and dwell in a fake world filled with distractions.

Research says nothing exists forever. Everything follows a bell-shaped curve. It grows rapidly up to a certain point and then takes a downward trend. In most of the businesses and human lives follow this pattern. You just check it. A family reaches a zenith in terms of wealth and respect, and then goes down due to various reasons. It could be younger generations not able to live up to the mark due to exposure to affluence, thereby making them lazy in a nutshell or people getting older and becoming non-productive at all.

There is no escape from it. But careful management can always delay the process. Humans take time to learn things. This has been quite an uphill task for countries all the time. Countries that do not invest in studies end up being poor and chaotic. Those who have understood it early will progress a lot.  As individuals, we also need to keep some funds to equip us with new knowledge. Knowledge is something that will be useful someday anyway.  By the time people leave school or college or whatever, they just cut their ways from learning and equipping themselves with new knowledge. As a result, when a certain skill goes obsolesce, people find it hard. Businesses for business houses and skills and knowledge for individuals also go through expiry dates. When the time comes, it is time to jump ship. For you to understand the winds and make decisions accordingly.

Things are told to you and fed to your mind that one should take one's own pace, and you will succeed. Eventually, things fall in line. Frankly speaking, time is less. Generally, a student should shade their uniform and be part of the workforce by 25. Things progressing in a relaxed manner will delay everything, which people do not like to talk. With advancing years, bodies become rigid and weak. By 35, people feel tired all the time because their youth is gone. No matter how new propaganda keeps on feeding your mind that you are young and energetic. Contrary to that, you are old with greying hair and sunken dark eyes. You are just old. You have defied believing that. By this time, one should have reached a managerial post at least. By the time you reach 40, you will have your people falling ill or health issues all the time, including your mild health scares. Your energy will be drained in that direction, too. 

After a certain period, things will go quiet because deaths will level things to some extent. But delaying things in early life would just push you towards more complexity. The advantage which you expect in your life in that golden period will be lost forever, which is not the case for the early birds. They have taken advantage, and a few bumps do not impact much. At your will, you will have something, but the very people whom you wanted to show will not be there; they will start departing as you turn 40 and onward. You will have that regret. Many times, people feel stuck. So, one need to maintain a momentum since day one. An ideal time does not come, and a happy time is fleeting in nature.

We are generally shaped by our families and societies. Humans have always learned to stay in groups because groups make people feel safe. We have tribes, communities, and religions. Often, we bring these habits into the office, preferring to do things our way. This can lead to conflicts that turn into office politics.

Office politics are usually less in a new office. If the organisation is old, it often becomes negative. Over time, people may become cunning, and negativity grows. Organisations must pay attention to these issues. If not, some people in leadership favour those they like, not those who are skilled. Instead, they pick attractive personalities, which lowers productivity. Eventually, the organisation suffers.

Moreover, it is our individual duty not to carry toxicity to the workplace. Sooner or later, people can find out. These days things have become different. People used to get away with many things in the past. Not these days. Online media can make you viral overnight.  All people think that they are the intelligent people on Earth and do some nefarious activities in the name of prejudice and even in the name of activism, to bully people. Once it is over a certain level, people do not hesitate to call you out. There are thousands of ways to pin you down. One has to  keep their workplace in order because money is coming from it. Once it is stopped due to stupidity, you can keep looking for it. In such cases, the group to which you belong may not be there to help you, but their thoughts and prejudices might have certainly pushed you downhill.

Backstabbing!!

Backstabbing!! How will you feel when someone dear to you does it?

In our childhood, we read Shakespeare’s play on Julius Cesar. His friend Brutas   betrays him and kills him by backstabbing. It keeps happening in our day to day life also. But we ignore it. We have been taught to forgive. Forgiveness is good, but many times things go beyond that. Then, people are also pathologically psychotic to keep on doing that. Many people wear masks before they ascend to a higher position. Once they solidify their grip on the system, they show their true face. 

In an office setting, it is a common affair.  Many people rejoice when someone they know goes up and become his cheer leaders. The wolves show their fangs eventually. It is in their nature to be predatory. Until you also rise up, you will be a sheep to them. People will not let you up because they like you at the bottom.

Now, being a sheep, you should keep telling your weaknesses to everyone. We have the habit of consulting everyone. But after a certain age, one needs to ditch this habit. It rather damages than helps. Why do you need to get things assessed by others all the time? One needs to develop their own understanding of the things that matter the most to them. Once you discuss sticky affairs where you may get stuck, should they be kept hidden from prying eyes? 

Once you keep asking about the things, people get suspicious, and they preempt the things so that they do not get into a sticky situation. Once you keep everything in plain sight, there is every possibility of getting the shortcomings ignored because people are not aware. You have to control your nerves and the urge to open your mouth all the time.  Even if you get caught, by the time they understand, you will be out or get others also to mud. They have to get you out, also, because they are also in it now.
