Currently, we are at the dawn of a new era; the era of artificial intelligence (AI). AI has the power to change the way we do things. It will bring high efficiency. Our systems are based on leveraging inefficiencies in the system. Once, there is high efficiency in the system, the gaps or loopholes in the system will be plugged which will cause lots of job losses initially. However, it will create new shifts and bring new jobs to the market.
Recently, companies have been firing or recruiting less under the pretext of AI because many redundant jobs are no longer available. Those jobs can be easily automated. We can take the example of website making. In earlier days, it was a big business for software companies and currently, it has been completely overtaken by automated platforms where you can have a website without much hassle. However, these are basic websites for sale. If you need a captivating one, you need to invest more. For that, you have to get people to do work for you. Now, if you see that the automated systems have taken over the low-hung fruits which are redundant, similarly, artificial intelligence combined with automation will make the jobs which are considered low-hung fruits in every sector difficult to get by. So, students need to go deeper into what they are learning. Then only, they will be relevant. While taking that path, AI will help you to learn more and understand things better in simple language. The company experts have focused on this point.
Moreover, many companies are also preserving their knowledge by not letting employees use AI. Once you use your data or do something by using AI tools, it goes to the system and it is used to train the system. In a way, we are teaching our competitors our secrets. Therefore, AI will take some time to catch up. On the part of students, they should learn to use AI tools. One needs to keep in mind that the tools should fit your needs. These tools can uplift your productivity a hundred times compared to the others. When I used to advocate the AI tools in our field or office work, people used to taunt me and pass remarks like “Are you doing it with the help of AI?” I kept on doing what I needed to do. I taught those who wanted to learn and let the resisting ones go their way. I have observed that those people who resisted the AI tools, became slow and eventually they had to give in to the pressure. Inadequacy of productivity was visible before their eyes. As a human, we do not like change but if we do not adapt to the change the change will make us obsolete. It is the story of the ages.
