The students are the worst hit due to the pandemic. Now, science students who are planning to go outside for study should rethink their decision. Assam is not lacking in anything these days. Now a day, we are having some of the best institutes in Assam. Since I have little knowledge except engineering; I would like to provide a list of some of the best Assam Government-run colleges along with the state university associated constituent colleges. 6 Traits of a good leader That Clicks for Job Interviews

Every recruiter in a placement drive looks for hiring a leader. A leader is a go-getter unlike the flock of sheep which the only motive is to follow in life. A leader can manage things and sort out problems. Sam Maneksaw, the towering last Field Marshal of India, talked on leadership qualities in a speech. He believed that leaders were not born but they were made. According to him, one should have the following qualities to be a good leader in life.

(1) Professional Knowledge: Professional knowledge is very much essential for professional competence. One should know his trade well. If you are a mechanical engineer, you have to have your mechanical engineering concepts clear. Otherwise, you are not competent in your field. You cannot lead from the front unless you have professional competence. Professional knowledge can only be acquired the hard way. There is no short cut. You have to study throughout your life to replenish your knowledge.

(2) Ability to make a decision and standing by it with full responsibility: According to Sam Maneksaw, India is a victim of indecision. For indecision of superiors, projects after projects pile up. Finally, when a decision is taken, the project costs increase manifold. Why does one hesitate to take a decision? It is only because the person in charge lacks professional knowledge. According to Maneksaw, if you must be a bloody fool, be one quickly. One should make a decision and stand by it taking full responsibility.

(3)  Absolute justice & impartiality: As a leader, you have to manage man and resources. While managing man, one has to provide absolute justice and stand as impartial. Man does not like to be punished. Yet, man will accept punishment whenever they are convinced that for the same sort of crime, everyone receives the same sort of punishment. They may not like the leader but definitely will respect.

(4) Moral And physical courage: Both moral and physical courage are required. But moral courage is very much essential in our day to day life. Moral courage is the ability to distinguish between right and wrong. Having distinguished that, you have to have the courage to say so. A yes man is a horrible man. He may rise high in life but never be respected by peers and juniors. He will be used by superiors and disliked by juniors.

(5) Nonpunctuality: Nonpunctuality is widespread in Indian society. It is injurious to man and state. One has to be punctual to set an example of him.

(6) Character: One should be honest and truthful. But according to Maneksaw, ‘Character’ means knowing yourself. Maneksaw says that we lack that sort of character. We are constantly being flattered by the people around us. We get delusional about ourselves by these flattering foes. Know yourselves and stay away from these sycophants.

Non Conventional Energy Resources ( DU Course)

Seventy percent of the earth is covered by ocean.  The predominant forms of energy which can be derived from the ocean are thermal energy by ocean thermal energy conversion, wave energy, and tidal energy.

Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC): The Ocean continuously absorbs sun rays. The ocean water gets heated due to the sun. There is a temperature gradient between the sea surface and deep water. The temperature gradient can be utilized for power production.

Wave energy: Waves are caused by wind. The waves contain kinetic energy. The wave energy can be harnessed modular technologies available in the market.

Tidal energy: In coastal regions, the tides are very common. During high tide, the ocean water level increases. The ocean water can be stored during high tide in a dam and power can be produced by allowing water through the turbines when sea level recedes. Conventional reservoir and dam concept is utilized for power production.

3 Reasons to study in a constituent engineering college in a university

There are engineering colleges like Assam Engineering Colleges (AEC) & Jorhat Engineering College (JEC) which are affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU). These colleges run according to rules and regulations of ASTU. The university sets the course curriculum and syllabus. Semester exams are held by ASTU like class 10th and 12th board exams. These colleges have autonomy in administrative and financial matters. Often, these colleges’ campuses may be located in different parts of the state. While a constituent college is a part of the university ecosystem. It always located inside the university campus. According to the UGC mandate, universities have started engineering streams in the campuses. One can consider these colleges [( DUIET, Dibrugarh University), (IST, Guwahati University), (School of Engineering, Tezpur University)] as a department of the university as a whole. The constituent colleges have freedom regarding course curriculum and syllabus according to mandate of AICTE framework. Furthermore, the colleges can organize semester exams at proper time without looking for anybody. The administrative and financial obligations of the college lie on the shoulders of the university. The benefits of studying at a constituent colleges are

(1) Updated course content as per the latest trend of AICTE

(2) Exam are held properly on time so that students get enough time to prepare.

(3) One becomes a part of the university system getting exposed to various other streams. This broadens the mind and helps ideas to blossom in different perspective also.
