First-year of B.Tech? Steep Scaling for new students.

B. Tech is a four-year-long course. It demands perseverance and persistence. One who can hold his nerves for four years is bound to succeed rising above the average lot. We are responsible for our mediocrity. No one else is to be blamed. We make decisions and we choose options that are not good for us even after knowing. It is like a diabetic patient deliberately choosing a sweet even knowing the consequences. Well, we are discussing the first year academics of the B.Tech course. In the first year, you have to complete two semesters; first and second. The first and second semesters are full of physics, chemistry, mathematics, graphics, mechanics, introductory-level computing, social, and environmental science-based subjects. You are already exposed to physics, chemistry, and mathematics in your secondary education. But, you need to be careful; these subjects may be of degree level. You are required to complete the syllabus of degree level this semester making it very extensive. These subjects are not difficult or hard. But you cannot afford to lose time on useless activities. The first year is full of different activities. Now a day, it is mandatory to go for a one month orientation course for students. Students are taught various aspects of life such as socializing with fellow students, developing extracurricular activities, personal development, nourishing of talents, coping with society, stress handling, yoga for better health, etc. The first month will be extremely exhausting and mind boggling. You will enjoy the best of life. Your time will pass like a flying arrow. The next phase is getting back to normalcy after the adrenaline-filled first month. You will be bombarded with classes to cover the last month's delay in course completion. You need to mentally ready for such upheaval in life. The main mantra is to attend the classes and make the required notes as much as possible. One important thing is to get the library card and collecting of books as specified by the teacher as soon as possible. The libraries are always book starved. Do not be casual or a sitting duck. Otherwise, you have to buy books. Engineering books are very costly. It will dent your pocket dearly. Next important thing, I request you to collect previous year question papers from seniors. When you check the papers, you might identify the areas which you need to stress during your studies. Do not be a lousy cat lying here and there.

(My recommendations for Graphics, Check directly)

In the first year, maximum students get backlogs in graphics and introductory level computing subjects. These subjects are new. In graphics, people fail in lots. Students take it lightly. During the exam, they cannot draw due to non-practice. This subject requires a lot of patience and time. You have to give some time to this subject. My recommendation is to buy the book named Engineering Graphics by N.D Bhatt. This book is a staple. Also, I request you to watch videos on youtube related to various topics. The next subject where students fail is a computing subject. In this subject, students are required to learn C- programming basics of computer science. Though this is not that tough, students find it difficult. My recommendation is to get a book by Let us Learn C by Karnetkar. Also, I request you to watch videos on youtube related to various topics. The rest of the subjects related to environmental engineering are easy and credit less which means you are to pass only. It may differ from college to college. Moreover, the students are to attend the engineering Workshop and engineering lay. In these workshops and laboratories, one should attend the classes regularly and make good impressions so that the viva becomes easy for you. You are to listen carefully to every minute detail uttered by the workshop instructors during workshop or laboratory classes. If you keep these in mind, you are sure to succeed in flying colors. If you are reading this post and you have a friend or you know someone staring B.Tech, please share for his betterment.
