We are social animals and we like to talk. In the olden days, people used to socialize in markets, parks and clubs. Now, social media has taken its place. In social media, people are coming nowadays from all age groups, social strata, ideologies etc. Everyone has his/her own point of view. Whenever you try to speak on any kind of controversial nature, people get offended.

Of late, we have seen instances of people getting flagged for religious and racial comments on various social media platforms. People lose their jobs due to those loose comments. Generally, when you are growing up, you tend to share many things which teens of your age like. These could be full of biases which can land you in hot water. Later on, your competitors use those posts to tarnish your image in whichever field you work on.

The best way is to avoid giving out too much on social media. Keeping your mouth shut helps not only in real-time but also in social media. Moreover, your social media posts facilitate various research agencies to profile you. Resisting the temptation to write instantly on social media is hard. One has to learn to disengage from it for the benefit of his own. Frankly speaking, if you have gotten a job, you are to protect it until you are financially free. Many people can do so because they have lots of money or time to endure it. If you have neither of those two, you have God only.

The world has become performance-based. Jobs have become performance-based like never before. People are assessed strictly for promotion. In our parents' time, it was not like this. People had quiet lives and used to go at a certain pace. There was not much stress.

In jobs, employers have set certain parameters based on which they will assess the performance. In Indian banks, one has to appear in exams to get promoted to higher posts. Similarly, in higher education, the teachers must reach a certain threshold for each promotion through academic and research activities. At least in the education sectors, the parameters are well defined. If one is a diligent worker, it should not be a problem. So, the out of college does not mean bidding adieu to studies. It continues. 

When an employee attains the requisite criteria only then the person is considered. Otherwise, one has to wait infinitely. Many people have fallen victim to it due to ignorance. At times, you will feel that getting the job was rather easy than maintaining it. As others keep moving, you feel stuck and pressure increases. 

Adding to the problem, now a days, the AI software has taken over evaluation . Slowly, all employers are adopting these toys. The software understands only set criteria and parameters. Even a simple deviation would not be recognized by it for consideration.As human intervention does not exist, it has become faceless obstruction.

Often, a new employee is ignorant about these things and so, learns it in a hard way. In the corporate world, it is far messy compared to government sector jobs. One has to keep in mind that, it is profitable for the employers to keep you in lower posts. Then, there is politics and all kinds of ‘oiling’ & ‘buttering’ by the competitors. One has to be observant of the things around him or her. However, one has to keep moving. Good things happen when you keep doing something.
