Even if you have been in the same company for more than two years, I consider the person to be a new employee. Once, you work diligently, you start getting noticed. It is a slow and steady process. Many people hope to do it overnight but that happens once in a blue moon or often in films or novel plots.
With time, you will be given responsibility and responsibility means power to some extent because you will look after whatever is assigned to you. Many people will indirectly depend on you. So, they will sing praises. In such situations, many half-baked people get swayed and show their true colour. There is a long way to go. Therefore, it is not wise to show your cards so early. One has to be grounded and humble while sailing this time. Since there is a long way to go, you have to keep working.
Generally, when you reach such a position people try to check you out and if they find any loophole, they will not spend any moment spreading it. It is the nature of our society. It is always like this and will be like this forever. You cannot change the culture by yourself. Once, you are out of the certain responsibility which corroborates to power, you will be dusted and forgotten. So, one has to walk cautiously all the time not giving any chance to anybody whatsoever.
