given some responsibility by the organization and by default, you command some
power however it may be small. For most people who do not have a fulfilling
life, their job and their positions are their identity. As time progresses, you move up and your
position solidifies. You command greater power and so you make a lot of impact
in others’ lives through your decisions. People look up to you for your grace
as well as mercy when they are wrong.
Power is like opium. It takes
time to get off. Many people get addicted to it and start thinking of
themselves as the god. History is filled with such instances. During those
days, people tended to behave in a way that was not normal to society. Slowly, people
get away from the righteous path of truth.
Sooner or later, power always
wanes by various means. It is not permanent. Sometimes, you get old or
sometimes you are just replaced by someone more efficient than you. It is a
part of life. We are all replaceable. Humans are nothing. People around you
will support you as long as they can benefit from it. Once, they feel that they
cannot do so they will throw it like a disposable glass. Most of the time,
people are not ready to accept reality, they feel uncomfortable getting back to
normalcy. It is what it is. Then, people are surprised to see the very people
who sang praises till yesterday will turn against you once you hang up your
boots. Humans are selfish beings but the irony is that you are to live amongst
them knowing the irony. That is the biggest irony.
