Stages in Campus Job Placement ( T & P Series on Wednesday : 04)

When companies visit the campus, they like to conduct the whole process in many ways which suit them. But most of the time, these stages are the same. These are

(1) Pre-placement talk

(2) Written test

(3) Group Discussion

(4) Technical Interview

(5) H.R interview

(6) Physical fitness verification.

Many a time, technical and H.R interviews are taken in the combine. Only, PSUs go for physical fitness verification on clearing the previous stages. The majority of placement drives end at stage five or H. R interview.

(1) Pre-placement talk: The visiting company gives a pre-placement talk. In the talk, they talk about the company, company structure, people, job details, package deals etc. When they pitch the company before you, you need to be attentive. If the company does not suit your expectation, you can leave it immediately after the talk.

(2) Written Test: Written tests may have many levels like aptitude test and technical knowledge tests. Sometimes, there is the sectional cut off mark for each section. You have to secure minimum marks in each area to clear the exam.
(3) Group discussion: After the written test, students are called for group discussions. The discussion on any current affair or popular topic is taken for discussion among a small group of students. The judges evaluate the best performer. The selected student goes to the next stage.
(4) Technical Interview: A group of experts takes the technical interview. You are asked questions related to your background or field. The students should have good knowledge of the subjects taught in his or her course.
(5) HR interview: HR interview is the last step in the recruitment process. It checks your soft skills and personality. The interviewer assesses you as a leader and human being suitable to their work culture. HR may check your social media profile and your past posts in social media to determine you. Students should avoid posting gender and religion-related biases to prevent an early exit. Therefore, one should have a neat digital presence.
