When I was studying B.E (Bachelor in Engineering) in JEC, we did not know much or very limited knowledge was available. In those days, information was less since internet was still developing. Even though, we collected information from here and there. We consulted seniors for advice. Now, information is blasting. But, we do not know what to study and where to look for the things.
Aptitude Test
When you are appearing for competitive exam, you are tested for aptitude. In aptitude test, you are asked various 12 standard math problems like algebra, time and distance, work and time, simple interest, compound interest, some trigonometry etc. I used a book by R.S. Agarwal. It encloses the entire problems. But you have to study all. After successfully studying this, you can crack any aptitude test. In banking exams, you have to solve the problems in record to save time. The section has cut off marks. I do not know how it operates now a day but it used to be like this back in 2010 and 2011. In those days, I used to study in Tezpur University. We prepared for exams in our leisure time. On Saturdays and Sundays, I used to always travel Guwahati for competitive exams by Bus at 6 A.M. or by Winger. I am enclosing the link here for aptitude and logical reasoning based books.
Verbal and Non Verbal Test
Initially, there was no verbal and non verbal test; only aptitude tests. But, completions increased and exams started asking verbal and no verbal questions. In those days, it was simply limited to a little bit of shapes only. Then, exams started to include questions like “All animals are dog. All dogs are pets”. I bought a book by the same author R. S. Agarwal on Verbal and Non verbal reasoning. I am including the link here for you.
Current Affairs
General Knowledge is very important. I invested dearly in GK books. I had a book on General Knowledge published by Pearson every year. It was a text book for me. There are some topics like geography, history, political general knowledge which do not change. I used study them on Saturdays and Sundays or on evening time. Moreover, I always purchased Manorama year book. Apart from that I studied Competiotion success Refresher, GL today, Pratiyogita Kiran etc for added knowledge. There, I tried to solve the questions asked in banks. I am including the links here.
Mechanical Engineering Questions and Answers
Well for Mechanical Engineering, I followed my notes and books during my college days. For Objectives questions, I took a objective question and answer book by S.K Jain. I also took books on GATE by Arihant and G.L publications. These are reputed and old book publishers. These were my staple in those days. Now a day, there are many choices I am including all these below. You can check. I also used Mechanical Engineering handbook by R.S Khurmi. This is a compact book. You can carry to the exam centre for last revision. There are many handbooks now a day. But in our time only this was available. I am including a few new ones also.
