Value of you word (Job Series): 26

We do not try to give value to our words. Most of the time, people think tactically and speak useless things, thinking nobody is going to remember, out of slyness, pretentious behaviour, jealousy, and the like. But people do remember because it affects them positively or negatively. Most of the time, we tend to be cunning like a fox and try to divert attention or deceive. Well, society has taught us these things. We see things and learn. Most of the time, good things are forgotten first and despicable things stay. Then, dark things attract people more.

With time, all those things combine and make an image of you that cannot be trusted or taken seriously. Later on, people just pretend to listen to you and ignore you behind your back. The value of your word keeps degrading. Therefore, if you do not know something simply do not pretend to know and learn it later on rather than justifying your false pretence with silly arguments. People are smart. You are fooling only yourself by such behaviour.

Then, some people keep on promising and fail to deliver, they are unreliable. With each failed promise, they tarnish their image bit by bit. After some time, people avoid them. Though you will not see it directly, you will feel that things are not right. In an office setting, you will feel that you are getting less burden these days. You will be elated but things will turn sour soon. In a short time, you will be ignored by the system.  Once you stop getting involved in things, you lose the chance to get promoted. To put it simply, show your work and get ahead in life.

 All these years, I have observed people how they talk to their bosses in closed-door meetings. There is a certain template worth mentioning that takes them to higher echelons of power. Well, there is a stark difference in approach in an open meeting. This is so strange. When you observe these people, you will find their rise to higher up. Am I sure of this thing? I may be not but I strongly feel there is a connection.

 Well, this is a kind of template sometimes it will work wonders with normal people and will not affect them at all in case of an anomaly. Anomalies do exist and it's your luck. 

So, coming to the point, these people start by saying good things about the boss; his recent quests and achievements. This is the way that they try to prepare a fertile ground. Then, they start talking about their recent works in line with his liking. If you do not have it, you are to find it anyway. Everyone finds something flashy to talk about. 

When people grow old, they get involved in work because there is much left in their personal lives. Some may have extravagance here also. Commonly, it is rare. So, the bosses are more into work. Moreover, once you grow old, you become money-minded, you need promotions, power and increments all the time to keep the circus running. It happens to all. Once you reach a position of power, you like people who can deliver so that you can get benefits. You tend to like people who at least say something in tandem with his liking. It suits his needs above all.  It sounds crude but it is what it is. Then, you can go on with your jargon.

In offices, people come from different backgrounds. They may be diverse in language, culture, ethnicity or come what may be, they are all similar in one aspect which is self-interest. People are driven by it and always will be. Anyone who wishes to think otherwise is free to think. The outside world is not as rosy as we think.

Many people try to take moral high grounds regarding it but everyone has a weak point. Sooner or later, everyone conforms to the surrounding human folks. Whenever interests align people find themselves on good terms with others. As soon as it vanishes, the common ground also disappears. Many feel lonely in this complex world. One needs to be mentally strong to endure such things and keep going.

 
Hence, I have mentioned that these days, the people around us are neither good nor bad. It is just grey. To mingle with the folks, one has to keep these things in mind. You cannot get anything done unless and until you make him count thousands of benefits out of that choice. 

Many a time, you might find it pretty useless. It is how you navigate these days.
